Aymeric Sallin
Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Aymeric founded +ND Capital in 2002. He discovered the nanotechnology world while conducting research between the Physics and Chemistry departments of EPFL in the 90’s. He was convinced that significant breakthroughs would arise at the nanoscale and extensive expertise would be required to differentiate science from science fiction. This was the foundation of +ND Capital. Following the raise of the first ND partnership, Aymeric realized that despite great science in Europe, the US was offering better investment opportunities. As a consequence, he has been commuting between Switzerland and Boston/ Silicon Valley since 2007. Prior to this, Aymeric was a strategy consultant with Bain & Company.
He is currently a board member of Crocus Technology, H55, Natron Energy, Tarveda Therapeutics, and Selecta Biosciences.
Aymeric is an elected member of the World Economic Forum’s “Young Global Leaders” Class of 2013 and the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences (2016). He received the “2007 NSTI Fellow Award” and “2012 EPFL Alumni” award.
Aymeric holds a Masters in Physical Engineering from EPFL where he is still an active member of the SAB and Chairman of the alumni association.
Patrick Aebischer
Senior Partner
Patrick joined +ND Capital in our Lausanne office in 2017. He is currently a board member of Amazentis, Vandria and a former board member of Arctos Medical (sold to Novartis).
Prior to this, he was President of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) for 16 years, which was transformed into a world-class science and technology university under his leadership. He has co-founded three biotechnology companies, and currently sits on the board of Nestlé and Logitech and continues to serve as an advisor to a number of private companies. He is also a former board member of Lonza and former chairman of the advisory board of Novartis Venture Fund.
Patrick was trained as an MD and Neuroscientist at the University of Geneva and Fribourg in Switzerland. He has been a Professor at Brown University and the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV), where he focused on cell and gene therapy approaches for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. He is a fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering and the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences.
Eric Moessinger

Eric joined +ND Capital in 2008 and was the first employee of our Silicon Valley office. He is focused on life sciences investments. Eric is currently a board member of Emulate, Visby Medical, AIRNA, Partillion, Osasuna and a board observer of Lightcast, IonPath and Inscripta. He was previously a board member of Icosavax (Acquired by AZ), Serotiny (Acquired by J&J), SQZ Biotech (NYSE: SQZ), and observed on the boards of ARMO (acquired by Lilly) and Twist (Nasdaq: TWST). Eric also helped lead +ND Capital’s investments in Orca, Octant and Nutcracker.
Before joining +ND Capital, Eric was a consultant at Bain & Company in Zurich and San Francisco. While at Bain, Eric worked on strategy cases in healthcare, industrial goods and telecommunications and on the turn-around of an electrical component manufacturer. In addition, Eric spent eight months in Bain’s Private Equity Group.
Eric has an MSc from the London School of Economics and a BS/BA from the University of Florida.
Kirill Kuzmichev
Principal
Kirill joined +ND Capital in our Silicon Valley office in 2013. He is focused on physical science investments and is currently a board observer of SiMa.ai and Spark Microsystems.
Prior to this, he worked with Rusnano, a Russian nanotechnology initiative, where he sourced, structured, and managed nanotech-related deals starting in 2009. Before Rusnano, Kirill worked for four years at a Russian private equity fund and was in charge of several investments in logistics, pharmaceuticals, and technology. Kirill also worked in various positions as an engineer, consultant (Boston Consulting Group), and operational manager in Korea, U.S., U.K., and Russia.
Kirill holds a Masters in Computer Science from the Electrotechnical University of St. Petersburg as well as an MBA from INSEAD, France.
Peter Liddiard
Chief Operating Officer & Chief Financial Officer
Peter joined +ND Capital in our Silicon Valley office in 2019. He has 25 years of experience as an investment executive including listed equities, private equity, and venture capital in the USA, UK, Europe, Asia, and South Africa. His sector experience includes Technology, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Consumer, Property, and Infrastructure. He has been on the board and sub-committees of 15 companies ranging from early-stage to a FTSE 100 company. He is currently a board observer of Natron Energy.
Peter’s original work experience was in South Africa where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1994 and is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants. He completed an Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in 2013.
Jonathan Nicholson
Executive Director of the General Partner
Jonathan joined +ND Capital in 2005 and is based in our Grand Cayman office. He is the former Managing Director of Merrill Lynch Bank & Trust Company and Head of Corporate Management at KPMG in the Cayman Islands. He has an extensive background as a director of several important and sizeable investment entities.
Jonathan is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
Richard Coles
Director of the General Partner
Richard joined + ND Capital in 2006 and is based in our Grand Cayman office. He is an experienced lawyer both in England and in the Cayman Islands, being a Solicitor admitted in England, a Cayman Islands Attorney-at-law and Notary Public. He was for 6 years the Attorney General for the Cayman Islands, a Member of the Cabinet and Legislative Assembly, and a Government Minister having been appointed to that position on the recommendation of the British Government. He was also acting Governor of the Cayman Islands. Prior to that appointment, he was the founding partner of a substantial firm of solicitors with offices in England.
Richard is now a non-executive director of a number of hedge funds and investment companies. Former chairman Cayman Finance; Human Rights Commission; Anti-Corruption Commission.
Richard studied at the College of Law in London and is a Fellow of the Caribbean Law Institute. He is a member of the Law Society of England, the Commonwealth Lawyers Association, the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, and the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies in London. He also has the distinction of being a Freeman of the City of London.
Alison Palmer
Vice President of the General Partner
Alison joined +ND Capital in 2021 and is based in our Grand Cayman office.
Alison has extensive experience in the financial services industry, with a focus on private equity and hedge funds. She spent 8 years working in fund administration and 5 years in audit working for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Grand Cayman and for KPMG in Cape Town.
Alison qualified as a chartered accountant in South Africa and is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Cayman Islands Institute of Professional Accountants. She holds a Bachelor of Business Science (Finance Honours) and Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting, both obtained from the University of Cape Town.
Gabriela Ecco

Gabriela joined +ND Capital in our Lausanne office in 2021 and is currently a board observer of EVIR Therapeutics, Vandria and Osasuna Therapeutics. She is also a board observer of AIRNA and a former board observer of Cellpoint (sold to Galapagos).
Prior to this, Gabriela has accumulated 15 years of experience in R&D in academia and industry. She has contributed to different areas of life sciences, including molecular and structural biology, infectious diseases, embryonic stem cells biology, tissue engineering, epigenetics, bioinformatics, and cancer molecular diagnostics. During her career, Gabriela has authored several high-impact peer-reviewed scientific publications and has led the development of different products for molecular diagnostics in oncology. Gabriela is passionate about science and innovation and her motivation is to help bring to the market new technologies that can change people’s lives.
Gabriela holds a PhD in Biotechnology and Bioengineering from EPFL and a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Management of Biotech, Medtech and Pharma Ventures from EPFL.
Peter Van Vlasselaer
Venture Partner
Peter joined +ND Capital in 2019. He was most recently the Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of ARMO Biosciences, Inc. which was acquired by Eli Lilly in June 2018 shortly after its public offering (Nasdaq: ARMO). Prior to this, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of iPierian (acquired by BMS), ARRESTO (acquired by GILEAD) and AVIDIA (acquired by AMGEN). Peter was also a co-founder of TrueNorth (acquired by Bioverativ) and was a member of the start-up teams of InterMune (ITMN) and Dendreon (DNDN). He currently serves on the boards of RGENIX and chairs the boards of Amphivena and Ascenueron.
Peter has a degree in Zoology and a PhD in Immunology from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. He was a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Division of Immunology and Rheumatology at Stanford University Medical School and DNAX Research Institute.
Klaus Dugi
Chief Medical Advisor & Venture Partner
Klaus joined +ND Capital in our Lausanne office in 2021.
Prior to this, he spent 18 years in pharmaceutical industry with Boehringer Ingelheim and Ferring Pharmaceuticals, mostly in leadership positions including more than 8 years as Chief Medical Officer. At Boehringer, Klaus oversaw the successful development, global approval and launch of several novel medicines including four which have achieved blockbuster status. He gained commercial experience as General Manager for the UK & Ireland at Boehringer. Klaus is currently CEO of Vandria and a Board member at AOBiome Therapeutics and Ferring Ventures.
Klaus was a PostDoc for four years at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, US, conducting research in the fields of metabolic diseases and molecular biology. He received his clinical training in internal medicine and endocrinology at Heidelberg University Hospital where he teaches as an Adjunct Professor of Medicine.
André Châtelain
Advisor
André joined +ND Capital in 2002. He is an Emeritus Professor of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) in Lausanne, Switzerland. Prior to this, he was a Professor of Physics and the Head of the Department of Physics at the EPFL and has been active in nano-science research since the 1970s. He was also a researcher in the Solid State Division of Oak Ridge National Laboratory (USA) and a Co-Investigator for lunar materials in the NASA Apollo project. He spent a year as a Visiting Scientist at the Department of Physics of the University of California Berkeley.
More recently, André served as a Deputy in the parliament of the Canton of Vaud for ten years and participated in the redaction of a new constitution.
André obtained his Master in Science in Physics and his PhD in Physics from the Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL). He did a Postdoctoral fellowship at Oak Ridge National Laboratories (USA).
Carl Pabo
Advisor
Carl joined +ND Capital in 2008. His research in biophysics made him a world leader in issues involving the structure and design of DNA-binding proteins. Dr. Pabo was a Professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (1982-1991) and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1991-2001), and an investigator with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (1986-2001). He was Chief Scientific Officer at Sangamo BioSciences from 2001-2003. More recently, Dr. Pabo’s work has focused on “long-range strategic thinking,” developing fresh ways of addressing some of the most pressing technical and social challenges of the modern age. While working on these projects, he has held appointments as a Visiting Professor at Caltech, Stanford, Berkeley, and Harvard; and has been supported by a Guggenheim Fellowship. He now runs Humanity 2050 (a non-profit focusing on key global challenges), and he is a member of the US National Academy of Sciences and of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Carl received his BS in Biochemistry and Biophysics from Yale in 1974 and received his PhD in Biochemistry from Harvard in 1980.
Jean-François Ricci

Jean-François joined +ND Capital in our Lausanne office in 2018. He is currently Project Director at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) in Lausanne, Switzerland, where he is involved in several strategic projects in the field of education, science, technology, and innovation. He is also Secretary General of the Swiss Polar Foundation, a private entity involved in supporting science projects in the polar regions.
Prior to this, Jean-François was a member of the EPFL management team for 16 years, serving as Secretary General where he was involved in numerous strategic initiatives and structural reforms, which helped transform the university into a world-class institute of technology. He was also deeply involved in the development of the EPFL campus, particularly in relation to the planning and the construction of the Rolex Learning Center, the EPFL’s central library and architectural landmark building. He also previously held the position of Head of Strategic Planning at the EPFL and through his numerous interactions at national and international levels, he has developed an in-depth knowledge of the academic world.
Jean-François was trained as a Civil Engineer at the EPFL and is passionate about science, technology, and innovation.
Luc Bauer
Venture Partner
Luc joined +ND Capital in 2002. He is currently a board observer of Crocus Technology and a member of its IP committee. Previously, Luc served as a board member and board observer of Natron Energy, Xtellus (acquired by Oclaro), SBA materials and of other Swiss and US companies. He serves on the Board of Seyonic, a Swiss company.
Over the last 30 years, Luc accumulated extensive experience in building, developing and managing companies in high tech industries. He co-founded several companies including Eurosil, nCHIP, SVISION, Hana Microdisplay Technologies, and served in various executive positions as Chairman, Board Member, and General Manager. He was part of the executive team of Integrated Device Technology, which accelerated its growth after a successful IPO in the 80’s.

Kostas Kaloulis

Kostas joined +ND Capital in our Lausanne office in 2018. He is currently CEO of EVIR Therapeutics and former CEO of Arctos Medical (sold to Novartis), two companies that he helped to structure and spin-out from the University of Bern and EPFL.
Prior to this, he headed the Innovation for the Life Sciences school at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), and on behalf of InnoSuisse (the Swiss Federal Innovation Initiative), acted as an expert for new healthcare startups and technologies across Switzerland. He has more than 18 years of experience in research, serial entrepreneurship, and biopharmaceutical business development & strategic innovation (Merck KGaA), where he has structured, negotiated, and managed numerous licensing and strategic partnerships deals. His main career motivation is to bring scientific breakthroughs to patients. As co-founder of the ReMedys Foundation, he supports the development of products with low commercial interest, but with potentially great impact to patients’ lives.
Kostas holds a PhD in Molecular Embryology from the University of Geneva, and did Post Doctoral research in cancer genetics at the Swiss Institute of Cancer Research.
Ryan Schubert
Venture Partner
Ryan joined +ND Capital in our Woodside office in 2021.
Ryan is Senior Vice President Translational Medicine and Clinical Strategy at Asceneuron, a clinical-stage company with novel small molecules for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. Previously, he trained as a physician-scientist and developed novel approaches to identify the targets and triggers of neuroinflammatory diseases like multiple sclerosis and acute flaccid myelitis. Ryan has authored first author publications in top-tier journals including Nature Medicine and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, is a patent holder, and is a board-certified Neurologist. Ryan is passionate about scientific discoveries that can be transformed into innovative drug companies, so that patients with unmet needs benefit from the latest advances in research.
Ryan completed his MD at Stanford and his Neurology residency at the University of California San Francisco. Afterwards, he completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the UCSF Division of Neuroinflammation and Glial Cell Biology and a clinical fellowship in the UCSF Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroinflammation Center.
Ursula Lucas
Executive Assistant (Swiss Office)
Ursula joined our +ND Capital office in Lausanne in 2020 as Office Manager and Executive Assistant to our Swiss team. She has over 15 years of expertise in executive and operational support, in addition to event management, having previously worked in the field of venture capital with Index Ventures and Medicxi.
Prior to this, she was a pricing analyst with the International Air Transport Association in Geneva and a bi-lingual sales agent with American Airlines in Dublin.
Ursula holds a BA in Marketing from GMIT, former Regional Technical College in Galway, Ireland.
Cathleen O’Connor
Executive Assistant to the CEO
Cathleen joined +ND Capital in the Silicon Valley office in August 2022 as an Executive Assistant to Aymeric Sallin, and also serves as the Office Manager in Woodside, CA.
Prior to her position at +ND Capital, Cathleen held positions as an executive/personal assistant and corporate paralegal at several Silicon Valley tech companies supporting C-level executives for over 15 years.
Cathleen holds a BA degree in Psychology and Religious Studies from Agnes Scott College, a women’s college, in Atlanta, GA, and a Paralegal Certification in Corporate and Real Estate.
